Change just one thing
2-1/2 hours
“If you do not change direction,
you may end up
where you are heading.”
If there’s something you want to do, change or transform in your life (and your busy life hasn’t allowed you until now!) — this workshop will get you going in the right direction. It’s empowering, practical and fun!
Here’s what we’ll do, step-by-step:
- Take an overview of your current life situation.
- Hone in on an area, you’d like to see change.
- Develop an Ideal Life Scene to support your vision.
- Enlist your Inner Wisdom (why do it alone?).
- Align your support team (ditto).
- Decide on first steps (hint, small is better!).
- Move forward with ease and grace.
Once you commit to changing one thing in your life, you may be amazed at how much the rest of your life shifts also.
“The best thing you can do is the right thing; the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing; the worst thing you can do is nothing. ”
Cultivating self-nurturing behaviors
2-1/2 hours
Many of us are not very good at nurturing ourselves. As children, we were probably taught that it’s better to nurture other people. We may have had a parent who didn’t know how to nurture him or herself, and we picked up the same behaviors. Or one who didn’t know how to be a parent to us, leaving us to take care of ourselves—and possibly them too.
So we tend to put others needs first and start running on empty ourselves.
In this gentle workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to:
- explore some of your beliefs about self-nurturing.
- choose self-nurturing practices that are geared specifically to you.
- call forth your own personal ‘Quality’ and create a unique affirmation to support you.
- change negative self-talk into positive self-talk.
- learn how to make self-honoring choices.
- enlist support.
Visioning your future
2 sessions — 2-1/2 hours each, 1 week apart
When you get clear on what you want in life, see it as already in place, and feel grateful in advance, there’s very little that can stand in your way!
You can use this workshop to bring forward a specific desire, to project a year ahead, or simply to visualize a balanced, peaceful and soul-guided life.
In this two-part workshop, you’ll have the chance to create your own personal Vision Board – a creative, intuitive and effective way to access your true heart’s desire, energize it and call it forward into being. This is about having fun creating the vision, and allowing it to manifest – not about ‘doing’ anything.
Week One: You’ll do practices to clarify and create your intentions, and get in touch with your creative self. And start collecting images and words for your board.
Week Two: You’ll create your Vision Board, look for any additional messages offered by the collage, and visualize yourself in the situation.
Walking with Spirit
2-1/2 hours
Life is hard when we think we have to go it all alone. But what if we don’t? What if Spirit is closer than close, and if we can only surrender our individual small self and ask for help – it will come to meet us? In this workshop, we will read and discuss poems from the mystics of several different traditions – poems that speak to this unwavering support, this neutral yet intimate advisor who is always available to us.
We will explore verses from the Christian , Muslim, Hindu, and Transcendental traditions — with such mystics as Teresa of Avila, Rumi, St. Frances de Sales, Meera, Hafez and Kabir.
What is a mystic?
“My own working definition requires that no one be called a mystic who has not made the experiential discovery that the source of all meaning — the God of truth, beauty and love, if you will — is a living presence within herself or himself.”
Creating Sabbath time
3 hours
“Once in a while
I just let time wear on
leaning against a
solitary pine
standing speechless,
as does the whole universe!
Ah, who can share
this solitude with me? ”
There is something profoundly healing about the intent of the Sabbath — whether we are religious or not.
But how many of us take time out from our busy lives to honor the rhythm of life’s ebb and flow, to balance effort with rest and relaxation? Some of us are afraid to rest, for fear that the emptiness we feel inside will be our undoing. Others have simply forgotten how to stop, fearing that we will be overwhelmed by our obligations and duties if we don’t keep on top of them.
In this workshop, we’ll explore ways in which each of us, in our own situations, can carve out sacred time for ourselves. We’ll look at ways to connect with our essential nature and each other. Whether it’s shutting off the cell phone, iPad. etc. for an hour each evening, or being radical and disconnecting for a full day! Taking a nurturing bath alone or with a loved one, playing with our pets, seeking out the gentle embrace of nature.
This workshop will involve short meditations and contemplations throughout.
Healing through compassionate self-forgiveness
Although it may not seem like it on the surface, most pain and dis-ease comes to us because we don’t fully accept and love ourselves. At some point we’ve made some judgments about ourselves and the world that we believe to be true. And we see everything through the lens of what we have decided.
Generally we think we suffer because of what happens ‘out there.’ “So and so did this, and I’m upset.” “I’m miserable because I’m stuck in a dead-end job.” “I’m unhappy because my partner isn’t treating me the way I’d like.”
But this kind of stance puts us in the victim position and it’s not a happy or empowered place to be.
In this experiential workshop, we’ll work together on real issues in our lives. In a safe and sacred space with your fellow participants, you’ll have a chance to uncover some of the limiting beliefs, judgments and misperceptions that keep you stuck in an “I am upset because...” world.
You’ll learn processes and techniques to release these limiting viewpoints, and experience first hand the powerful healing possible through self-compassion and self-forgiveness.
